Health Disclaimer

Last updated: 29 April 2026

GLP Wise is a personal health-tracking tool for adults on GLP-1 weight-loss medication. This page collects, in one place, all the health and safety disclaimers that apply to your use of the app. It is published by FNC Labs (Pty) Ltd alongside the Terms of Service and the EULA.

1. Not a medical device

GLP Wise is not a medical device. It is not registered with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or any other medical-device regulator, and it does not need to be: it is a self-management diary, not a diagnostic, monitoring or treatment device.

The app does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, including obesity, diabetes, eating disorders or any GLP-1 medication side-effect. Nothing in the app is a medical opinion or a substitute for the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.

2. Always consult your healthcare provider

Before you act on anything you see in the app, talk to a healthcare professional — in particular before:

The Doctor Report PDF that Pro users can generate is a self-reported summary of what you logged in the app. It is a conversation aid for your appointment. It is not a clinical document and your healthcare provider should not rely on it without their own assessment.

3. AI features — estimates only

Three Pro features use OpenAI as an inference provider:

Do not use any AI output as the only basis for a medical or dietary decision. If a number looks wrong, trust the food label or your dietitian, not the app.

4. Pen inventory and dose tracking

The app's medication-tracking features (pen click counter, dose-escalation log, injection-site rotation guide) help you keep notes on what you have done. They are not a control system for your medication. Always read the prescribing information that came with your pen and follow your prescriber's instructions. If the app and your prescriber disagree, follow your prescriber.

5. Side-effect pattern correlation

The app can show patterns between the side-effects you log and other variables you log (dose, food, time of day, hydration). These are observational patterns from your own data — they are not clinical findings, they do not establish causation, and they have not been validated by a peer-reviewed study. Use them to start a conversation with your healthcare provider, not to draw your own clinical conclusion.

6. Medical aid information

The "Medical aid information" screen inside the app summarises GLP-1 cover for major South African medical schemes as of the date shown on each scheme card. The schemes change their formularies regularly. Always confirm cover with your scheme directly before relying on it.

7. Emergencies

GLP Wise is not an emergency service. If you think you may be having a medical emergency — severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, signs of pancreatitis, an allergic reaction, signs of low blood sugar, suicidal thoughts, or any other urgent symptom — call your local emergency services immediately. In South Africa: 10177 (ambulance) or 112 (mobile). Emergency numbers shown are for South Africa. If you are outside South Africa, dial your local emergency services.

8. Adults only

GLP Wise is for adults aged 18 and over. GLP-1 weight-loss medications are prescription drugs intended for adult patients, and the app's safety, dosing and side-effect content is written for an adult audience. Do not use the app if you are under 18, and do not let a minor use your account.

9. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and contraception

GLP-1 weight-loss medications are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and some prescribers advise contraception while on them. The app does not give pregnancy-specific advice. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, talk to your prescriber and your midwife or obstetrician before continuing or starting medication tracked in this app.

10. Reporting suspected adverse drug reactions

If you experience a suspected adverse reaction to a GLP-1 medication, report it to:

Logging a side-effect in GLP Wise is for your own tracking. It does not count as an official adverse-event report.

11. No liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FNC Labs (Pty) Ltd is not liable for any health outcome that follows from your use of the app, including (without limitation) medication errors, missed doses, incorrect calorie counts, or decisions you make on the basis of AI-generated content. This does not limit any right you have under South African law that cannot be excluded by contract.
